Research

Our research is based on the principles that remote sensing and GIS products can be used to understand how climate change is affecting remote places such as the Alaskan Arctic.

We understand that remote sensing products provide a significant reservoir of information but the applications can be limited where terrain is difficult to distinguish between. This is the crux of the problem that we are trying to solve - how can we resolve not being 'able to see' both through our own eyes and through a computer to being able to produce a ecologically/geographically correct depiction of the state of shrub expansion in the Arctic?
