First Grant sent off

The first team grant has been sent off!! This has been quite a journey to get to this point but it has finally been sent off and for now the hard work has ceased.

We applied for a major grant in the US worth $10,000+ which required a lot of information from us both including a full budget, timeline, maps, details on us as individuals, team members, and other trip specific information. This is a lot of information to prepare on such a short timescale but we were able to get it done in time although we were working very close to the deadline!

It was very useful in some ways to have that time pressure as without that deadline I think the planning portion could have definitely have dragged on quite a bit. It also meant that it has given us quite a good basis for working up the other grant applications as they all require slightly different aspects of the trip emphasised. I also was able to start costing up my equipment costs as a result which has been very beneficial for working out my minimum costs in GBP vs USD.

I think if we were able to do the project on a longer timeline then perhaps the grant season would not be as hectic as we have a lot of grants that we are currently preparing applications for. I think it would give us just some breathing room if nothing else in terms of the actual application I don't think it would make much of difference except giving us more time to correct information.
